Welcome / How do we find enough time?

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

Regardless how you found yourself here, I am glad you came. Thank you.  This website is my attempt to explore a specific nagging feeling many of us have.  The unmistakable sense that time is slowly accelerating. And, that life is going to end before I ever truly live it the way I know I can.

It’s a difficult feeling, I know.  When I look straight ahead, I see life as it is happening.  But, on the periphery of my vision I see an alternative.  It’s a world where I am doing everything right.  I am taking time to give gratitude for the joys that I have, nurturing relationships, investing my time in all the right areas. In this alternate universe I am walking hand in hand with time as it whispers wisdom in my ear. I grow old living as a true expression of my inner self.  Happy, confident, content.

In reality however, I feel as if I’m in the back of a racing taxi in a foreign city with time at the wheel.  I’m pressed against my seat. And all the while, we keep passing up the street I tried to tell the driver to take.  Regardless where I tell the taxi to go, it’s as if time gets distracted and we pass up the next street and go careening down another.

I guess this route will work but it doesn’t feel right…  How do I get off this ride?  Time! Just stop for a minute and let me catch my breath!

Does this resonate with you?  Do you ever get as anxious as I do?

At the time of this writing Amazon.com has 93,000 self-help listings.  With that many titles, I can only assume that everyone is looking for something solid to reach for.  We all want to live the best lives that we can.  The truest versions of ourselves.  We need a better way……I need a better way…… Or else I think I am going to live with this unsettled set of emotions hanging over me for the rest of my life.

The old wisdom literature and the Steven Covey’s of the world, tell us to identify what is most important to us and to connect with those valuables as often as we can.  But how often do we really do that.  It’s so easy and convenient to get caught up in the day to day.  There is so much stimulation pulling us in every direction.  We rarely end up spending time with those people or doing the things that we truly value most.

I am building this website to build a community focused solely around examining ourselves and trying to live as our best versions possible.  We will focus on identifying what our priorities and principals truly are.  And, most importantly, help hold each other accountable to living through those truths.  In doing so, we will end up acting on our intentions more and building the quality of life that we crave.

I found this summed best through a saying someone told me.  “In walking, just walk. In sitting, just sit. Above all, don’t wobble.”  It is a simple yet surprisingly difficult and endless task to perform.  To stay fully present in the moment.  To give your full attention to that which you intent to do.  However, that is what I intend for us to do.  We will focus on the present moment, engaging completely in that which we value until it is time to move our attention elsewhere.

Amazon is going to keep adding more titles that their collection.  And those feelings like anxiousness or regret are never going to go away on their own.  Let’s help each other examine ourselves, everyday, asking questions that expose our true principals so that we may spend every moment with that which we value. Today, Tomorrow, Forever.
